Become a volunteer and make a difference!

Volunteers make a massive difference to the work of our organisation. Our volunteers help us to achieve so much more than would be possible without them.

To become a volunteer you do not need any previous experience or qualifications however a sense of humour, a desire to work with older people, patience and good communication skills are appreciated. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities; working as part of a team in day care you would support our service users to participate in a wide range of activities and help serve and clear refreshments, volunteer to be a Befriender and visit an older person in their own home for about an hour to relieve social isolation or join the fundraising becoming a volunteer you can help QCCC offer much needed support to older people and their carers in rural north west Edinburgh.

Volunteering offers many benefits: the opportunity to try something new, gain skills, experience and qualifications and make new friends. Volunteering can help if you are considering a change in career, returning to work or a student making career choices and need some experience. Evidence of volunteering is a valuable addition to a C.V, job application and university or college application and after six months QCCC could act as a referee for job applications.

There are lots of personal benefits to being a volunteer and best of all your community benefits too.

During the past year, 12 new volunteers have joined QCCC and we now have over 60 volunteers who help in our day care, supper club, befriending and helping to raise much needed funds for the organisation. We also mustn’t forget our Board members who are all volunteers.

No matter what role you have with us, we will make sure you have all the training and support you need to get the most out of your volunteer experience.

Throughout the year we enjoy getting together at social events from bowling, to quiz nights and fish and chip suppers. A great way to get to know people in your community. To find out more click on the links below:
