||QCCC befriending service is a highly valued and much appreciated service that could not exist without volunteers.
If you wish to refer an older person for our befriending service please use the referral form below
Befriending provides the ideal opportunity to volunteer at a time that suits you. Many of our befrienders work full time and visit early evening or have school age children and arrange their visit during school hours. A commitment of 1-2 hours per week or fortnight can have a huge impact on an older persons’ life by reducing social isolation and increased self- esteem and confidence through the knowledge that someone is choosing to visit them. No previous experience is required and as a volunteer befriender you would receive comprehensive induction training, on-going support and the opportunity to meet other befrienders at training or social events. The waiting list for those desiring a volunteer befriender to visit continues to grow, so if you are age 18+ and can spare a couple of hours please contact Lorna Russell for more information on 0131 331 5570.
